    1. Zaanse Schans Sightseeing Tour

The guide will meet you at the Zaandijk Zaanse Schans train station and you’ll spend 1 hour and 15 minutes on a walking tour of the open-air village. You’ll hear about sites of interest on the 10-minute walk from the station to Zaanse Schans, including a working cocoa factory and authentic windmill. You’ll see wooden houses dating from the 1700s. Visit a wooden clog factory and enjoy a live demonstration of clog making. There will be time to buy a pair of beautifully decorated clogs or related souvenirs. Next, visit the cheese makers. Learn about the Dutch cheese-making process and taste and buy some local cheeses if you wish. You’ll see an authentic windmill, where a local mustard is produced. Zaanse Mosterd and a variety of interesting spices are available for purchase. The last stop of the tour is the Albert Heijn Museum Shop, where you’ll see how grocery shopping has changed over...

I was lucky enough to have the guide all to myself. I arrived at the station a little early and he met me, and off we went! Kinito was well-prepared with extra materials to help me understand the history of Zaanse Schans, and was very enthusiastic and accommodating. Our tour went a little over the 75 minutes, which I enjoyed because we took our time walking and learning. He also seems to have a good relationship with all the local places we visited. I had plenty of time after to explore on my own, and he even sent me off with recommendations. I loved the clog making demonstration. Overall, a very friendly, knowledgeable local that made the whole experience super fun. Would recommend for sure!

It was amazing. The guide (Kinito Van-Dunem) is very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Totally recommended, he knows everything about Zaanse Schans. He showed us all beautiful and interesting places and also took us to the most delicious chocolate shop ever. This is definitely a must for anyone coming to the Netherlands. Zaanse Schans is extraordinarily beautiful and full of history (and not only because of the windmills).

Great Morning Out

This was a really great morning out and our guide, Kinito was excellent! We were super lucky that we had him all to ourselves and his knowledge of the area that he shared with us was great. He took his time, answered all our questions and made the whole experience a joy. The windmill village was beautiful and learning about clog and cheese making were a bonus. Would recommend this excursion to anyone!
