Full description
Start your tour from York city center. Stop at the Bingley Five Rise Locks, a spectacular feat of engineering constructed in 1774. Move on to Haworth, where the Bronte family lived from 1820. Visit the Bronte Parsonage Museum and the Bronte Memorial Chapel in the nearby church, or explore the quaint shops on the main street and have a leisurely lunch in one of the traditional English cafes. Head up Penistone Hill to admire the moorland views towards Top Withens, where the Brontes walked to gain inspiration, before heading north for your afternoon in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Arrive in the traditional Dales village of Linton to explore Linton Falls, before continuing through the National Park. Stop at Bolton Abbey to explore the Priory Church and ruins of the 12th-century Augustinian Priory in its beautiful riverside setting, or take the stepping stones challenge if you are feeling more adventurous. Travel through the Dales back towards York, passing through Harrogate before your arrival back at the meeting point.

Great day out with very knowledgeable driver/guide.

Starting at 9.00am across from the Minster, this was one of the best days out that my wife and I have had.Travelling through York, with a bit o social history was very interesting.Once into the countryside, the views were superb( and we are Scottish....used to great views!).Our guide,Chris, was constantly giving interesting facts but in a very informal and user friendly fashion. We visited a variety of villages and interesting hamlets with 2 hours in Haworth, plenty of time for a visit to the Bronte Parsonage and a lovely lunch in one of the many and varied cafes, pubs and restaurants.Great day out and even allow we had travelled often in Yorkshire,it was much better being a passenger!! Thank you for a great day out.Regards Jim and Cath Greenock.

A perfect day out - highly recommended

If you are weighing up whether to do a self-drive, take a bus from York, or join a tour to see Haworth and the Yorkshire Dales like I did, let me assure you that taking this tour is by far the best option (and best value for money). This is an absolutely fantastic day out with everything you could hope for: a brush with the Bronte family, lunch in the gorgeous town of Haworth, time on the windy moors, well-timed stops at places ranging from picturesque to dramatic landscapes, and stunning scenery. I can't recommend our guide, Chris, highly enough - he was extremely knowledgeable about the geography of the dales as well as history and literature, he was very thoughtful and didn't get tired of answering questions on any of these topics. The only people I wouldn't recommend this tour to are the few die-hard Bronte fans who want to spend more than an hour in the museum - but you can easily get through in 45 minutes. Everything ran on time - it was a brilliant day out - highly recommended!
