Discover Franconian wine on this special 2-hour tour of the Baroque city of Würzburg. Sample Silvaner, Müller, and other specialties of Würzburg wineries and enjoy the views of the Old Main Bridge.
What to Expect
Sample the best wines of Franconia on this tour through the wine houses of Würzburg. Start with a sparkling wine in the Hofkeller, the Bavarian state winery, and read exciting facts about the Franconian terroir and the Würzburg Residence, the former palace of the prince-bishops.
In the Bürgerspital, the oldest winery in Würzburg and the home of the Bocksbeutel, a Würzburger Riesling awaits you. Würzburg’s largest winery is the Juliusspital, which is also the second largest in Germany. Here, admire the garden with its beautiful pavilion and sample tasty Silvaner, a wine iconic of Franconia like no other.
Head on to the Würzburg market, where you will find a small stand of the winery group Frank & Frei, which brought about the renaissance of the Müller-Thurgau nearly 20 years ago. Of course, you also have the opportunity to enjoy a glass of Müller.
Finally, reach the Old Main Bridge. In fine weather, the bridge turns into an open-air wine bar. Enjoy red wine and the fantastic panoramic views of the city – from the Käppele to the Marienberg Fortress, from the Würzburger Stein with the Steinburg to the town hall and the cathedral.
