Full description

Travel to Auschwitz-Birkenau to learn about the history and liberation of the nazi camp. Take a tour of the moving site, and pay your respects at the memorial. Your day concludes with a guided tour of the Wieliczka Salt Mine. Depart Krakow and journey to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum by air-conditioned minivan or minibus. Watch the short documentary "The Liberation of Auschwitz" on the way to learn more about the camp. Upon arrival, take a guided tour of the site to learn about one of the darkest chapters in the history of Europe. Spend approximately 3.5-hours at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and then drive to the Wieliczka Salt Mine for a 2.5-hour guided tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Marvel at the chambers carved in salt and see statues and chapels carved by the former miners.

  • Although you will be able to skip the line for tickets, there will still be a wait at the security check

We really enjoyed this trip. The transport was very organised, and our leader Michal (the one with a nickname? We can’t remember!) was efficient, friendly and informative. This was a great trip for us as we were only in Krakow for 4 days and wanted to make the most of it. Auschwitz and Birkenau were sobering, harrowing experiences but the tour was run very smoothly and respectfully. The only thing was our guide was difficult to understand at times, and she seemed to miss out some information that the other guide gave (we were split into two groups). This was nothing major though, just being there was enough for us. Our second leader for the trip somehow got confused and we ended up with a short 40 minutes for lunch- we had to eat very quickly. That being said, the Salt Mines were really fun and interesting and would highly recommend! Our guide was funny and very informative. Overall, a really good experience and definitely useful for a short stay, whistle-stop tour.
