1. Skagway: Dog Mushing Camp and Emerald Lake Private Tour
Start your morning with a drive through historic downtown Skagway, while your guide entertains you with tales of the Klondike Gold Rush. Next, head north on the S. Klondike Highway and climb 3200 ft. along the valley to the summit of famous White Pass. Be prepared for Canadian Customs with passports handy, then travel deeper into Canada. Listen to tales of Alaska life while enjoying the stunning scenery and hunting for wildlife along the highway. This stretch of highway is home to black and brown bears, fox, coyote, lynx, moose, and caribou, to name a few. Once at Tutshi Sled Dog Camp, enjoy learning about the art of mushing, pet the Alaskan husky pups, and take part in summer training, while a team of Alaskan Huskies pulls your group along a 2-mile track. Traveling farther north, enjoy views of pristine mountain lakes, stopping for lunch in Carcross, Yukon. Lunch will be available for purchase in Carcross. Your next visit will be to the Carcross Desert, a fascinating landmark in the Yukon, then you will turn around at popular Emerald Lake. On the drive south, enjoy a different view of the same landscape, and marvel at the heavily glaciated and snow-capped north faces of the White Pass mountains on your return to Skagway. Once back in town, your guide will drop you off in town for further exploration, or right back at your ship or hotel, it is up to you.
