The day before our tour, the local tour operator contacted us to let us know that as a result of a large number of tour participants, our tour of JPII’s boyhood home is canceled. The local tour operator made accommodations for other sites. We wish we would have had much more notice of this cancellation. Otherwise, we might have been able to book another day. Unfortunately, this was our only day available for this tour. This entire booking only provides transportation. No guide at any site is included. Although our driver was safe, engaging, and courteous, at one point we felt like we had been abandoned after lunch. We were not in our home country. We do not speak the local language. Our van was not where it was when we left it. The driver went to the other side of the restaurant for petrol. He did not say he was doing so. For a couple minutes, we were quite worried about how to get to our hotel which was over two hours away.
