  • Dzukija National Park and Grutas Park: Full-Day Tour

    1. Dzukija National Park and Grutas Park: Full-Day Tour

Once you and your group have been picked up from your accommodation in Vilnius, get ready for a day filled with adventure.  From Vilnius, you will travel to Merkine, where you will head to the Three Crosses area, which acts like a gate leading to a dome and a pyramid. Spend at least a few minutes here, as it's said to have a cleansing effect. Afterwards, proceed to the dome and pyramid and after short meditation, you will continue to the Cepkeliai Marsh.  The Cepkeliai Marsh is the largest swamp in Lithuania; here you will spend some time hiking. Later, you will continue to the Grutas Park, which is an exposition of Soviet statues scattered around the park. You will have lunch either in Marcinkonys village or Grutas Park. After lunch, you will head to Liskiava Monastery Ensemble and Druskininkai resort town. In the evening, you will return to Vilnius.

Exsile was a wonderful guide and took us to several places that we never would have found on our own. Thank you!

  • From Vilnius: Kaunas, Trakai and Paneriai Forest

    2. From Vilnius: Kaunas, Trakai and Paneriai Forest

During this private day tour you will be able to explore the most interesting sites in the surrounding areas of Vilnius. The tour will start from Paneriai memorial park, where thousands of Jews from Wilna were killed.  The Paneriai or Ponary massacre was the mass murder of up to 100,000 people by German SD, SS and Lithuanian Nazi collaborators, during World War II. The murders took place between July 1941 and August 1944 near the railway station of Ponary, now known as Paneriai, a suburb of what is today Vilnius, Lithuania. After the tour in the park, you will head to the second capital of Lithuania, where today you can see the most beautiful castle, on the island in the lake. Here, you have the possibility to enjoy lunch in traditional Karaim restaurant or take boat trip around the lake. After, the group will head to the temporal capital of Lithuania - Kaunas, which is second largest...

Because of the flexible itinerary it was possible to adapt the sights to the number of expected traffic for festivities in Kaunas. Starting with sad history of the Nazi regime killing about 100000 people from Vilnius and just burying the remains in the Paneriai Forest. With the good weather we continued to Kaunas to see many of its churches, the little fortress walking around most of the time. When we finally got to Trakai Castle I learnt about the way of defending the different parts of the castle, how the islands were connected by bridges and what else to do in Trakai. I highly recommend this tour.

Directly after booking and the official booking confirmation I received another email from Anastassia (the tour company) directly. WOW, that's quite a service!! Asking me, where we should meet, or to pick me up wherever I am. As we are in the first days of June, the high season hasn't started yet. So I was lucky to be the only guest. Andrius, the tour guide picked me up exactly on time in the morning. We have been hiking then for two hours before Andrius prepared a campfire and a perfect picknick for lunch on the shore of a lake. After swimming in the lake we kept on hiking again. It was such a beautiful tour with great views from hills and a watch tower over so many lakes, that I lost track. I can highly recommend this tour for all people who love the nature and love to be outdoors. You can find a detailed report of this tour (in German language) and with a lot of photos on my travel blog: alla-on-tour.de/wandertour-im-aukstaitija-Nationalpark. Ačiū, Andruis, for a great tour and lo

Nice, uncomplicated, spontaneous

We booked the trip in Octobre when it was cold and a bit rainy but nevertheless we really enjoyed the beautiful nature. Anton was a very nice guide and even able to light the fire with wet wood. We asked for veggie food and got delicious veggies and also hot coffee and tea which was perfect for the cold weather. We were accompanied by his young dog and we loved that he asked before if we are ok with dogs. Unfortunately at this time there were no more herbs and berries to explore, but so we had a longer walk and always the decision where we want to go. That's why at the end we actually had a longer trip than planned. We can higly recommend the tour with Anton!

Having a tour with Anton was just an amazing experience. We came without knowing what to expect and it was far above any other hikes we did. Anton showed us wonderful places, had prepared everything for us and shared stories. What else could we say than time flies when you are hiking in such a beautiful place with such a nice person. We would definitely recommend and do it again :)

Exsile was a wonderful guide and took us to several places that we never would have found on our own. Thank you!
