All technical equipment worked well. Bus was comfortable. Guide Joseph was very informative and helpful. Loved Hadrian’s Villa and really loved Villa d’ Este. The fountains were incredible! Joseph explained the history of what we were seeing and helped us to enjoy the town of Tivoli too. Well worth the day trip, and barely 45 minutes there and back. No negatives, but here are some notes for your planning: You will leave wanting more time to explore on your own in both locations. I felt maybe a bit too much time in the city. The restaurant Joseph recommends is expensive for lunch (but good food!). Many less expensive spots in a three block radius. Lots of walking stairs and hills. I loved it, but not everyone does.
We had a fantastic day with our guide who lived locally to Tivoli. He was so knowledgeable and fun. Unfortunately the fountains at Villa d’este were not working due to heavy rainfall but absolutely not due to tour operator. Had a lovely lunch in recommended restaurants and our party all enjoyed each other’s company.
The trip was lovely! The weather was great! Our guide Giuseppe was marvellous - he’s a great guide explaining the history of all the beautiful places we went to. A tour of Tivoli is a must - allocate a day if travelling to Rome.
Earlier rain caused the fountains at Villa d’Este to all be turned off. Disappointing, but uncontrollable. We found the film room by accident. It would have been nice to be told of that option to see the fountains in use.
This was another highlight of our trip. The guide was amazing and very energetic. The gardens were beautiful, and breath taking. The guide took us to this great restaurant for lunch. A definite must do.
