We joined both the red and blue tours of the city, which provided us with two very different views of the city. Having used hop on/hop off tours many times, we have found these the best way to experience a new city. With Porto being hilly, this was particularly helpful, some of them could be avoided ! Our plan is to go round the entire route once, and select stop (s) to hop off on the second time around, on both routes we noted places of interest which we subsequently stopped. The buses on both routes run every 1/2 hour, waiting time was acceptable. However, one dissapointment would be that no announcement was made by the driver (s) of an up and coming bus stop. Maps are provided, however, when you are visiting a new destination, I believe this would improve the tour.

Porto Hop-on Hop-off Tour: 1- or 2-Day Ticket Reviewed by

Just amazing facilities from Calem in their "presentation space" or how could man call it... You could absorb small and well-organized pieces of information about wine production, written, highlighted and displayed on the glass plates, pictures, inscriptions, shelves, and everything you could grasp quickly just in one moment. The guide was funny and nice, but a bit hasty, I would've appreciated more personal commitment to the tour participants. I got the impression, that the presentation of the all information (winery, history of the wine, grapes) was not so structured and a bit messed up, could have had more order in it (but it wouldn't prevent you from enjoying the tour, just my thoughts) :)

This experience was short and sweet. The staff at the venue spoke English very well and were very accommodating to me as a pregnant guest. They provided me with juice whilst everyone else had Port, which was a nice gesture. The tour guide gave a clear and concise explanation about the Ports they manufactured and the process behind it. The Fado Show was good but it would’ve been just as good with only 3-4 songs. Then there would’ve been time to have an explanation on the Ports they provided for tastings. Also it would’ve been nice to have cheese or olives with the crackers at the tasting.

Porto: Cálem Cellar Tour, Fado Show & Wine Tasting Reviewed by

The guide of the wine cellar tour was good. We learnt a lot about the port wine, and its difference from the regular wine. We enjoyed the fado performance a lot. The music and songs were so touching. It is so enjoyably to listen to the music while we were served with port wine, which tasted so good.

Nice little walk through the Cálem bodega with interesting information on the production process of vinho do Porto. Highlight was the Fado show. Really nice, 45 minutes with a tasting of a white and a red vinho do Porto.
