    We were meant to take a morning tour but had unforeseen car troubles and were afraid we would miss our tour. Ryan was so understanding and allowed us to join the afternoon tour instead. Janet was our guide and absolutely AMAZING! She was so knowledgeable about the glacier and ice caves--taking us to three ice caves during our visit as well as all over the glacier. She was so kind and helpful to my in-laws,who were on the tour with us and needed to take a few breaks throughout. She made sure it was a wonderful experience for our entire group, and she took picture after picture of us! This was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Iceland-- the weather was incredible, the area was gorgeous, and it felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you, Janet and Ryan!

    This hike is for anyone who wants to experience hiking on the beautiful glacier of Mýrdalsjökull. Located underneath the ice cap is one of the largest Volcanoes in Iceland, Katla who erupted last in 1918. You will meet your guide at the Sólheimajökull parking lot where you will receive all the necessary safety gear and hike towards the glacier. There you will get a safety briefing as well as a tutorial on how to attach the crampons to your boots. You will have 60-90 minutes on the ice and be able to explore the impermanent glacier formations as well as crevasses and moulins.     What an amazing time we had as a group with David leading the way! We got to see so much in such a short time and got lifetime images will never forget. Only thing that would have been better would have been having time to go down to the Studagil Canyon.

    In total Vatnajökull covers 8,100 km2 (3,100 square miles) which is about the size of Delaware! As you arrive to Vatnajökull National Park you'll start to feel the true force of nature, which becomes apparent when you reach the large glacial lake Jökulsárlón on the south-east corner of Vatnajökull National Park. The lagoon developed after the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier started receding around the 1930s. Fantastic tour! The guide was very professional and provided lots of interesting knowledge. Hiking on the glacier itself was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Breathtaking view. First time ice climbing and it was lots of fun. Definitely recomment.
