This hike is for anyone who wants to experience hiking on the beautiful glacier of Mýrdalsjökull. Located underneath the ice cap is one of the largest Volcanoes in Iceland, Katla who erupted last in 1918. You will meet your guide at the Sólheimajökull parking lot where you will receive all the necessary safety gear and hike towards the glacier. There you will get a safety briefing as well as a tutorial on how to attach the crampons to your boots. It was a really great excursion. It was really worth it to see the icecave and being sorrounded by glaciers. All mountains were full of ice/snow. Like outter space.Very interesting journey by such a different jeep vehicle.
The guide was very good, he told us many interesting things during the whole trip, you could see that he was a person passionate about his work. The place is magnificent, unique, it left us speechless. Highly recommended!
