What to Expect
Visit the Haus der Musik in Vienna, a modern interactive sound museum located in the historic city center, and embark on a musical journey. The fascinating world of music and sound is rendered audible and visible in real and virtual experience spaces spread across 5,000 square meters over 6 floors.
Virto|stage allows you to become the director of your own music and opera experience. Influence the course of the action, the scenery and the music, and intuitively design your individual opera through the motions of your body.
Temporary exhibitions are displayed in the Sound Gallery, a small exhibition space in the courtyard of the Haus der Musik. Discover the fascinating history of the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the sumptuous and historic rooms of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Museum on the first floor. Enjoy a film of the original Viennese New Year's Concert and Summer Concert in the specially conceived concert hall.
On the second floor, take a trip through the amazing world of tonal and sound phenomena. Enter the Sonosphere and admire the sound experiments and larger-than-life instruments, or produce your own CD.
Journey back in time to meet Vienna’s great composers including Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Strauss, Mahler, and Schoenberg. You can also have a go at conducting the Vienna Philharmonic with the Virtual Conductor.
Create a sound to your own name with Namadeus, Mozart’s musical game. The interactive computer program based on Mozart’s musical game KV 516f offers visitors the opportunity to playfully turn their names into original Mozart interpretations. You can take your personal score home with you as a souvenir.
Discover a virtual, interactive, and multimedia music theater. Dive into a fascinating world of sound with the opportunity to creatively intervene.
Zoo Concert is based on Marko Simsa’s children’s book of the same name and has been specifically created for young visitors, taking them on a musical adventure. Curious explorers are in for an exciting and interactive fairy tale, bringing animals from the Zoo Concert waddling, clapping, or hopping on the big screen, thus creating their own musical theater.

Audio guides are included in the ticket price and available on the third floor (The Great Masters). You can choose between the following languages: German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Russian, and Japanese.
Free floor plans are available in the same languages at the ticket office.
Wheelchair accessible: step-free access at the main and side entrances, automatic sliding doors, and wheelchair-accessible elevators are available.
Free admission for persons accompanying visitors with a visual impairment or in a wheelchair. Guide dogs are permitted. Wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities are located in the inner courtyard and on the top floor.
