What to Expect
Experience a unique musical evening at the Ronacher Theater in Vienna and enjoy this exciting new production by star director and choreographer Vincent Paterson.

The musical “Evita” by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber has garnered more than 20 international awards as an Oscar-winning film starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas and has enjoyed a cult status for many years. The show, which features some of the best musical songs of all time, such as, “Don’t Cry for me Argentina,” “On This Night of a Thousand Stars,” “I’d Be Surprisingly Good for You,” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall,” tells the story of Eva Perón, the wife of the former Argentine dictator Juan Perón, from her beginnings to her days as a national heroine.

The musical is based on the biography of Eva Perón, affectionately called “Evita” by the people, telling the story of her social and political rise against the backdrop of historical events in Argentina between 1934 and 1952. A young man called Che leads you through the story as the narrator and commentator. Evita started from humble beginnings and was venerated like a saint by her followers but despised by the middle classes and intellectuals. Her way to the top includes a number of liaisons until finally meeting the military attaché Perón. She supported him actively in his rise to the presidency and became the First Lady.

Eva Perón lived her dream of luxury; however, her flair, skill, and publicity to demonstrate her sympathy for the poor and oppressed gave great hope to the people and made her an idol for the whole nation. Although the social and economic tensions in the country steadily increased and the voices against her became louder, she transformed the impending defeat into triumph.
