Peter Piller "Belegkontrolle" & Anita Witek "About Life"
With two solo exhibitions from Peter Piller and Anita Witek, the Kunsthaus Wien presents artistic positions that understand photography as a raw material. Through the use of existing photographic material — ordinary photography and everyday images, which are mainly taken from magazines and newspapers — Piller and Witek unite their artistic practice.
Both artists consider and question the imagery in different ways, according to different criteria. By translating the pictures into new contexts and arrangements — by adding (Piller) or deconstructing/montage (Witek) — they both succeed in analyzing today’s omnipresent imagery in a brilliant way.
The exhibitions are curated by Verena Kaspar-Eisert.
