What to Expect
Get an introduction to the historic craft of glass blowing on the island of Murano, the Venice district famous for its exquisite glass works.
The tour takes place at a Murano glass factory on St. Mark's Square in central Venice, where you will be told about the origins of glass blowing, and learn how Murano became the center of glass-making when the Venetian Republic ordered all the foundries relocate to protect the wooden buildings of the main city from catching fire.
Murano glassmakers became the most important citizens of Venice, and throughout the ages they refined their techniques thanks to trading between the Venetian Republic and the countries of the Middle and Far East.
Then, experience glass blowing for yourself as you assist a master glass blower at a glass blowing demonstration, using traditional techniques to create your own unique glass item. At the end of the tour, receive a small glass gift as a souvenir of an unforgettable visit.
