Spend the day hopping through the ancient "bacaro" or Venetian taverns of the city, stopping three different ones for a glass of aperitif or "ombra" (a classic Venetian wine) accompanied by some classic "cicchetti" or various Venetian appetizers.
What to Expect
Begin your tour with a stroll around the Rialto Bridge to its bustling marketplace to see where the Venetians do their shopping every day. Once you've browsed the market, begin your tour of the traditional "bacaro" of Venice, visiting three along the way: the Al Volto, the Al Portego, and the Do Spade).
At each of the "bacaro," sit down to a glass of "ombra," a typical Venetian wine. As you sip on your drink, enjoy some of the classical Venetian "cicchetti," an array of appetizers made of fish, seafood, meat, and vegetables, and immerse yourself in this age-old Venetian after-work tradition. Enjoy!
