What to Expect
Book this unique ice cave tour for next winter in Iceland! This ice caving day tour departs from Jökulsárlón café, which is 40 minutes east of Skaftafell by the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón.

In summertime when water runs underneath the glacier, the ice caves are formed. The running water cuts through 900 year old glacier ice that forms the cave that you will visit.

Every fall, local guides from the area hunt for new ice caves. The location of the caves changes every year and your guides have to find new caves every winter. The structure and condition of the caves can vary between years. Your guide decides which cave to visit every day depending on safety and weather conditions.

The drive to the ice cave takes approximately 20-30 minutes depending on which ice cave you go to, after the drive you will walk for 5–15 minutes to the ice cave where your guide will inform you about the surrounding area. When you reach the cave you will stay there for 1–1.5 hours, inside the cave and partly in the beautiful surrounding area. The total duration of this trip is about 3 hours.

If incredible natural phenomenons are something you enjoy, then book this tour now.
