What You'll Do
  • Sample the most famous dish of Spanish cuisine, paella, right where it originated
  • Walk around the town of El Palmar and learn more about the lives of fishermen and rice farmers in the region
  • Discover the La Albufera Nature Park at the gate of Valencia
  • Enjoy a breathtaking view of the largest freshwater sea in Spain
Discover the largest sea in Spain and one of the most important wetland habitats on the whole Iberian peninsula. The Albufera Nature Park is a protected nature reserve of incredible beauty and home to the largest rice field in the land.
What to Expect
A beloved Valencian proverb states: "The people of Valencia eat rice 6 times a week - and on Sunday they eat paella." And so rice is served daily, whether as paella, arroz a banda, arroz al horno, arroz negro, arroz meloso, or any number of other preparations. The variations are endless, and it's no surprise - the Nature park Albufera in the south of the city produces a third of all the rice in Spain on one of the largest rice fields in the land and one of the most significant marshlands in Europe.

Get to know not only the secrets of true Valencian paella, but the daily lives of the rice farmers and fishermen of the region.

Discover the most beautiful side of the Nature Parks with a boat ride on the Albufera Sea and a paella tasting in the town of El Palmar.
