Tokyo: Ueno Private Walking Tour with Shrine Visit
- Small group
- Duration: 4 hours
Good for getting a sense of the distances and layout of Tokyo’s major tourist attractions. Taped commentary difficult to hear at times. Music accompaniment unhelpful and did not add to atmosphere. Bus stopped directly beside some attractions (Edo Museum, Tokyo Tower and Sky Tower) but others ( Asakusa, Royal Palace etc) were a couple of streets away. But, generally good value for the money.
Our guide Naoko was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and accommodated our requests for specific things and areas to see. She navigated the metro for us and moved fast so we saw a lot. She is very passionate about her job and it shows. She even looked after our two boys ages 10 & 7 when crossing a street and in crowded areas. We have a friend for life!
The fastest and cheapest way to look around the city if your stay is limited. Goes all prime locations. But too bad they wouldn't stop at "Ginza" district. It was too late to get off once they have announced the beautiful location of Ginza. Some of the tourist guides are hard to understand. Other than these issues, overall I'd recommend to the visitors.
The day that we picked happened to be raining and the first available bus was an roof top only bus and only one row of seats were covered. If that is the case for the day you go, it’s worth the 30min wait for the next bus that has bottom seating as well. Otherwise the tour was useful and got to see Tokyo and plan for another visit.
Worthwhile, fun, easy way to get around the city. It was difficult to hear and understand the narrator. Not enough historical info and details were provided about the buildings we passed and the areas we were in. Improving the sound system and the narrative would earn this a 5-star rating.
