Chianti Wine & Food Safari

1. Chianti Wine & Food Safari

With your expert guide, enjoy a comprehensive introduction to the region and its wines while touring two of the region's best wine estates. As you sample the winery’s signature wines, you’ll receive tips about the art of wine tasting and pairing wine with food. Your first stop of the day is at a beautiful winery belonging to one of the most prestigious Italian aristocratic families. Here you'll taste three wines paired with cheese and two olive oils but first, there’s a fascinating guided tour of the historic wine cellars and to the olive mill through underground tunnels that pass under the villa. Now buckle-up and get ready for some off-roading through ancient woodland and rolling hills, outlined with cypress trees and dotted with rustic farms and churches, to make your way to a typical Tuscan restaurant with stunning views. Here is where you will really get your taste buds tingling with delicious food and wine. You will not want to leave! To visit the final wine estate you'll go deeper into the Chianti hills and enjoy more incredible countryside on your way to a Chianti Classico vineyard. As a contrast to the established winery of the morning, this one is smaller and less known though does have award winning wines which you will taste as you find out how ancient tradition and innovation have been combined to create them. The unique beauty of this area will add to the unforgettable memories you will have created so far. There will also be a stop in Greve, a picturesque town in Chianti where you can enjoy a little free time to wind down and get a coffee, shop or just soak in the unique Italian culture of this idyllic place. I sifted through dozens of wine tours before deciding to book this one and boy am I glad I did! We went to Italy for my Husband’s 30th birthday and I was determined to find a wine tour in Tuscany that wasn’t a commercialized cattle chute for tourists. This tour took us to off-the-beaten path, small production, family-owned wineries that were passionate about their craft. Gloria was our guide and she was excellent, providing so much insight into wine, food, culture, and the Chianti region. We went to three wineries, where we got a tour, 3 generous tastings and food at each stop. We learned, drank, and ate more than expected! This tour was the highlight of our trip to Italy. If you’ve been trying to figure out which Tuscany day trip to take, look no further. Book this tour, you will not be disappointed!

We had a wonderful day driving around Tuscany trying several Chianti Classico wines along with a few other varieties. Our tour guide Lavi was extremely knowledgeable about all things wine, and was charismatic and engaging on top of that. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to spend a day exploring Tuscany and to drink great wines.

Fantastic!
