Tully River Rafting: Guided Rafting Trip with Dinner

Tully River Rafting: Guided Rafting Trip with Dinner

Prepare for a wild ride on this guided white water rafting tour down the Tully River. Receive all rafting training and equipment needed before venturing into the water and taking on grade 3-4 rapids. End your experience with lunch or dinner. Begin your adventure with pickup or choose to self-drive to the starting point. Once here, meet your river guide and fellow paddlers and get fitted with your life jacket, helmet, and rafting shoes (if you choose to rent a pair).  Once out on the water, spend up to 4 hours white water rafting on grade 3 and 4 rapids. Paddle hard as you carve your way through the spectacular gorge surrounded by pristine rainforest that’s been listed as a World Heritage Site and was home to the 2019 World Rafting Championships. Rest assured that no experience is necessary for this rafting experience. You’ll receive a comprehensive safety briefing and paddling instructions from your guide who will be there to help throughout your experience.  After your time on the water, replenish your energy with a Riverside BBQ burger lunch or dinner at the Feluga Hotel, depending on the time of your trip. Look over photos of the day and choose to purchase some as souvenirs. Please note: $30pp River Levy is payble on the day of travel.

Mission Beach: Tully River Half Day White Water Rafting

Mission Beach: Tully River Half Day White Water Rafting

Your tour begins at the Tully Gorge camping and day use area. You’ll meet your experienced wild guides for the day, before taking a 45-minute informative drive from the beach (or Tully) along the beautiful winding Tully Gorge Road. This road will lead into the World Heritage National Park to the Tully Gorge Recreational Park. Once there,  you'll unload the rafts before being kitted up and run through some handy rafting instruction and pairing up in your raft. You'll first enter the Tully River in a beautiful calm section of the gorge. There, your expert guides will show you everything you need to know to become a "white water warrior". Once confident in your rafting abilities, you'll start off with a "practice rapid"; a nice span of small rapids to let you practice your paddling and turns and give you a feel for both the water and your raft. Your guides will be with you every step of the way, showing you the best way to travel and what to look out for. The scenery alone is worthy of the experience, but don’t get too distracted as there will always be rapids approaching. The rapids will get a little bigger and trickier and will see you watching the water currents, dodging rocks, steering your raft to take the rapids head on, crashing through a wall of foaming water, and emerging drenched but euphoric at the feeling of the conquest. With each rapid comes more confidence, more control, and more excitement. Once you have loaded the rafts onto the trailer, it will be time to toast to your thrilling experience with a nice cold beer, before you change into some dry clothes and to head back home.

We had a great day, we only wished we had time to do a full day! Our guides were so lovely and informative, they made sure we were fully briefed and instructed us ahead of each rapid we encountered to make sure we knew what to expect and how to approach it. Would really recommend it, if you have time to spare the national park is really beautiful and if you don’t want to do a full day rafting consider taking the rest of the day to explore.

The team were very engaging from the start and tried to build energy within the group throughout. Transport took 3 hours to get from Cairns to the site. From there the activity was amazing, the scenery was spectacular and the guides (Sean in our case) were very experienced and fun to do the activity with. The photos were high quality and reasonably priced. Overall, we had a very fun and adventurous day.

Amazing and exciting trip! Professional guide on the rafting boat.

Amazing river, great guides and awesome time had by all.

We had a great time and Aoife was a brilliant guide
