Full description

Welcome to Aurora Wonderland Basecamp. Located in beautiful Lyngen, our base camp is surrounded by breathtaking fjords, mountains, and islands. Step into our crystal Lavvo for a unique adventure. Imagine gazing at the night sky through the glass ceiling while cozying up to a fireplace. With a good distance from the city, you'll find minimal artificial light pollution. With clear skies and pristine surroundings, your odds of seeing this natural wonder are truly exceptional. The adventure starts when we pick you up in the city center of Tromsø. Then, we'll take you on a panoramic drive to Aurora Wonderland Basecamp. This scenic route includes a short ferry ride and stunning views of the Lyngen Alps. Upon arrival at the basecamp, you'll receive an expedition meal. Afterward, join an excursion on foot or snowshoes (if the weather allows), or stay at the basecamp, relaxing and enjoying the stunning view. In the evening, after a nice dinner, we'll provide a summary of the northern lights forecast and assist with camera settings so you can capture stunning photos during the night. After this, your Lavvo will be warm, cozy, and ready for you. When you have settled into your Lavvo, you can keep an eye on the sky through the Lavvo's glass ceiling or wander around the base camp to see if the northern lights are dancing above. The following day, we serve a traditional Norwegian breakfast before we start the drive back to Tromsø, arriving at 11 a.m. We look forward to sharing this extraordinary experience with you at Aurora Wonderland Basecamp. Pickup information: Pick-up information can vary, so always check this page for updates.   • We have 6 lavvos with accommodations for up to 4 people in each.
  • Minimum 2 persons in each lavvo.
  • We never mix guests who don’t know each other in our Lavvos.
  • Please note that this is an adventure where you have to add wood to your wood oven yourself.
  • There is a shared bathroom/toilet inside the main house and one outside toilet for those who want to try this authentic experience.
  • Bathroom/toilet in the villa is open 24 h.

Great trip even though cloud cover blocked the sky. Met a lot of cool people and had good food. My one suggestion is to skip the snow mobile option if they offer it. 2000NOK per person and we only went out for maybe 40 minutes. Probably the most overpriced thing I have ever done lol. If you have money to burn, go for it, but just keep in mind what you are paying for.

positive : amazing location, great timing, snowshoe hiking was great, house is awesome / negative: 1 toilet & bathroom for all, very little food (soup at lunch, mashed potatoes with meat at supper and that's it), I would have liked to know that I needed to wake up every 1:30 to put wood in the fire of the lavvo,

Tout était parfait ! La nourriture était délicieuse. Tout le monde était très gentil. On a eu la chance de voir des aurores entre 23h30 et minuit et demie. José nous a donné des conseils bien utiles. Dormir dans un Lavoo est une expérience que nous avons aimé . On a pu emprunter des raquettes et on a fait une balade de 10km, pendant que d’autres hôtes faisaient de la motoneige. La rando était vraiment magnifique. On a adoré !
