Tromsø Ice Domes

Depart from the city center of Tromsø by bus and embark on an exciting snowmobiling adventure. After a 90-minute relaxing bus journey, you will enter the remote area Tamokdalen where our wilderness camp is located. Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will be warmly greeted by your guide and outfitted with all the necessary gear and clothing, including thermal suit, boots, gloves and helmet. Our expert guides will provide thorough safety instructions on how to drive a snowmobile, ensuring everyone feels confident and safe before heading out on the tour. Follow your tour guide and navigate along snowy trails, passing snow-covered mountains, valleys, frozen rivers, and lakes. You will share a snowmobile with another person, taking turns as the driver and passenger. Halfway through the tour, we’ll have a short break where you'll swap places, ensuring both of you have the chance to drive the snowmobile. After the tour, you will return to the camp, where a warm meal awaits in one of our traditional lavvus (indigenous Sámi tent). With food and drinks served, gathered around the open fire, you will get the chance to relax and share stories of your recent adventures! During peak season, we might split the group to avoid large groups. Half of the group will start with a warm meal in the lavvu before heading out on their snowmobile tour. With everyone returned to the camp, it's time to board the bus and return to Tromsø, taking with you great memories of an adrenaline-filled day in the Arctic wilderness!

Join us for a 1.5 hours bus ride from Tromsø to the remote Tamok valley. Upon arrival at the camp, you can freshen up and get geared up in the warm winter clothes and boots we provide, ensuring you stay warm and comfortable throughout your stay at the camp. Our camp host will guide you through the day's program. Divided into smaller groups you will participate in a variety of engaging experiences, some accompanied by a guide, others to explore independently. Campfire Crafting Learn the essential survival skills from your knowledgeable guide as you partake in the art of crafting a campfire, essential for staying comfortable on a cold winter's day. Master the art of starting an outdoor fire yourself and gather around its warmth and light while you immerse yourself in captivating stories about the local lifestyle and the rich culture of the Arctic region. Grill your own sausage on the open fire while we will serve a warm soup and hot berry juice keeping you warm and cozy outdoors. Snow Adventures Get active and try navigating through snow-covered terrain on tandem skis. Race the other team for an extra dose of excitement! Learn about the history and evolution of skis; from a traditional form of transportation to its recreational & competitive forms today. Tromsø Ice Domes Snow Park. Discover the magic of the snow and ice sculptures inside the Sculpture Park! Wander around by yourself through a mesmerizing display of snow and ice sculptures, a snow maze and explore our two domes. Marvel at the amazing art coming to life with light in its natural surroundings of pristine nature and peaceful Arctic landscapes. Encounters with Arctic Wildlife. Get close to the two most iconic animals of Northern Norway: cuddle and take photos with our huskies and go visit the reindeer herding near the Sculpture Park. After your visit, your day at Tromsø Ice Domes has come to an end and it is time to board the bus and return to Tromsø, taking with you great memories of this Arctic adventure and plenty of images of the magical snow art.

On the dog sled ride you will pair up with another guest, with two of you sharing one sled. One takes on the role of musher, guiding a team of energetic huskies through the snowy terrain, while the other enjoys the ride seated on the sled. Halfway, you will have the chance to switch roles, allowing each person to experience both the thrill of leading a team of huskies and the joy of being a passenger. After the dog sled ride, you will have the opportunity to visit the dog yard and you can relax and warm up with a hot meal and drink by the open fire inside one of the lávvus (indigenous Sámi tent). After a 90-minute relaxing bus journey, you will enter the remote area Tamokdalen where our wilderness camp is located. Upon arrival at Camp Tamok, you will be warmly greeted by your guide and outfitted with all the necessary equipment and clothing, including snowshoes, poles, thermal suit, boots and gloves as you will first head out on the snowshoe hike. The tour is designed to be easy and accessible: an experience guide will introduce you to the art of snowshoe walking at the start of the activity ensuring that even beginners can participate. The snowshoe hike offers a unique opportunity to explore the serene winter landscapes at slow pace. As you make your way through the snow, your guide will share fascinating insights about the Arctic environment and teach you some good ice-cold wilderness survival skills: how to sleep outdoors, what to eat and how to orientate yourself. Midway through the hike, we’ll pause at a nature camp where your guide will teach you how to chop wood and start a fire, on which you then will cook a delicious lunch. Upon return to the camp, you will be informed on when and where you are expected for the second part of your activity: the visit to Tromsø Ice Domes Snow Park.
