Full description

Watch magnificent humpback whales and orcas feed on shoals of herring when they migrate to Skjervoy between November and January. Enjoy a scenic panoramic drive from Tromso to Skjervoy, then hop into a rigid-inflatable boat (RIB) for a once in a lifetime experience in a small group of between 4-12 people. Meet at the Scandic Ishavshotel in Tromso bright and early at 5:30 AM. From here, drive for 3.5 hours to Skjervoy to meet your English-speaking guide. Once in Skjervoy, receive a warm flotation suit before getting into the RIB. Then, set off on a 2.5-hour whale watching excursion in the Kvaenangen Fjord. Marvel at the natural scenery and keep your eyes peeled for orcas and humpback whales, as well as other local wildlife. It was a fantastic trip! Very well organised! The coach was very comfortable and the long drive went quick with a lovely bus driver. Everything was prompt and as soon as we got off the bus we were getting our extra clothes on and heading straight out. We were extremely lucky and the orcas seem come to us to say hello! The tour was a good amount of time. By the end the hit drink and tasty baguette were very welcome! Take as much warm clothing as possible.

those who book should know that it is a demanding excursion. Wake up at dawn with early departure due to tunnel works near the port, travel by comfortable bus with bathroom, quick dressing outdoors, I believe because of the covid, I recommend that you bring only your camera with you and leave everything in bus, 2 and a half hours of wonderful excursion on a rubber dinghy where, however, you will hardly be able to move and you will be attached to the opposite person (sooooo attached, for those who are overweight or claustrophobic it is an excursion not to be recommended, I myself who are 1.65 tall and weigh 58 kg I suffered). You go back wet but dry, gloves, soaked balaclavas. they provide you with a ski mask, absolutely take it. On return, excellent sandwich to eat in 5 minutes because the bus is ready to pick you up. For the rest, you will see the whales and killer whales up close, it is a poem

Our guide Susanne was great and told us a lot about the ocean and the whales. We had amazing weather, too. Unfortunately the guides did not communicate good enough with each other, so that one boat saw Orcas and we didn’t because of taking another way at the same time. That made me really sad. Nevertheless it’s the magic of these animals that you can’t find them everywhere at any time. Hopefully I’ll get another chance one day. Thank you so much Susanne! And I can definitely recommend this trip. You just need to know that it’s a long way by bus, too. But landscape is amazing all the way and the driver was very friendly as well.
