Full description
Learn about the city of Toronto through its long history of beer on this unique tour. Since the early 1800's when Toronto was known as York, to the modern metropolis it is today, the citizens of this city have used beer for refreshment and merrymaking. Walk through the streets of old Toronto and learn about Canadian beer. The focus will be on beer made in Toronto and regional craft brews. Hear anecdotes about the role beer played though the decades in helping Torontonians cope with cholera, fire, war, depression, rebellion, muddy streets, and general Victorian stuffiness. Visit a few unique and historic pubs which cover the early history of Toronto and give a new perspective on the city. Afterwards, stop by Saint Lawrence Market and finish up in the Distillery District; an old industrial park and whiskey factory converted into a hub of art, culture, and cafes. At 2 pub stop, beer will be included, but you are welcome to purchase more.

Such a fun & delicious way to explore Toronto!

Tim was our tour guide on a beer & history tour of Toronto on a scorching hot summer afternoon in July. He was intelligent, engaging, fun, knowledgeable, witty, good humoured and cute! We walked and talked and drank some very good beer in a variety of local bars, pubs & breweries, each with a distinct style & ambience. Lots of interesting facts about Toronto past & present and just the right balance between walking & resting with a cold beer in hand. Tim’s energy & enthusiasm & sparkling personality, made this a winning walking tour which I highly recommend.

It seems to me a very good idea that can be even more exploited

It's a great idea and the tour and guide are excellent, Mike made sure we all had a great time on the tour. I think it's important to mention that none of the stops (except for the last one) include beer. It seems to me an important point since it actually makes me think that I only pay to have a guide, which is not bad at all, but the description could be misleading. In the same way, it would be good if they asked for proof of payment, since when I arrived I was not asked for anything, so I can think that I can join the group without a problem, but above all without having made a payment. Out of these observations, a very nice piece of information passed, perhaps we were few people, due to the time of year, but that is not the fault of Mike or Urban. I would totally recommend Mike and the tour.

A great afternoon filled with laughter, new friends, history & beer!

Mid-day, on a cool rainy day, 6 strangers from different parts of the world met Jordan (our guide) and 4 hours later, said goodbye to our guide; had dinner together; and swore to remain in touch. Jordan was the best guide ever! He was not only knowledgeable about beer, but about the history of Toronto. He quickly assessed our group which ranged in age from 23 to 52 years old and adjusted easily as he went. He turned a wine lover into a non-beer hater with the individual recommendations he made. Our tour was held on a very rainy day, but we barely realized it as we were all so engaged in our discussions with Jordan and with each other. After living here for 30 years, Jordan initiated us to new beers and new locations to enjoy those beers. Thanks Jordan for sharing your humour, your knowledge and for your patience as we bombarded you with questions about what seems like the greatest job in the world!
