Experience the melding of religion and culture firsthand on a half-day tour from Madrid that stops off at some of the religious houses of worship, in addition to taking you on a tour around the city.
Begin with a panoramic tour of Toledo, led by an expert guide. View Spanish architecture inspired by Arab, Gothic, Mudejar, Renaissance, and Baroque styles. Then see the outside of Primate Cathedral of Saint Mary of Toledo, the Gothic Cathedral, dating from the 13th century.
Continue on to the Church of Santo Tomé to view El Greco's masterpiece, El Entierro del senor de Orgaz (The Burial of the Count of Orgaz). Journey to Santa María la Blanca, the oldest synagogue in Europe. Next, see the Museum of Victorio Macho in the very center of the Jewish quarter.
Pay a visit to the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes, which was founded by King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile to commemorate their victory over the army of Afonso V of Portugal at the Battle of Toro.
