Feel the Japanese culture with this pottery experience in Tokyo, based on the instruction from a craftsman and learn to make your very own cup or chopstick rest!
What to Expect
Experience the traditional Japanese art form of ceramics in this program! You will wear a samue, a traditional outfit that Japanese craftsmen usually wear, and learn how to make your own items, such as cup or chopstick rest. The facility is conveniently located in Omotesando area.
There are 2 program options available:
Opt for the electric pottery wheel experience and you will make a cup on a pottery wheel based on the kind instruction of a professional craftsman. Due to the fact that finishing the process of making your cup lasts many weeks, you cannot bring the cup that you made home with you. But you will be able to bring a handmade cup that was made at this same studio back home with you. This souvenir will be presented in an authentic paulownia box.
Alternatively, make your own chopstick rest by hand-mixing the clay and painting on it. The craftsman will instruct you on how to mix the clay and give you tips on how to paint it. Each item will be baked for 3 hours and it will be ready to bring back with you upon your departure. Your souvenir will be nicely wrapped into acrylic box.
