Full of energy and youthful spirit, Tirana is the colorful capital of Albania. Join this tour for an exiting, full-day adventure in this culturally rich East European metropolis.
Begin the day with a visit to city center's Skanderbeg Square, where you will see a statue of Skanderbeg, as well as the grand Clock Tower and the beautiful frescos of the Et’hem Beu Mosque. Continue on past Tirana's National Library and into the National Historic Museum, whose pavilions on Antiquity, Iconography, as well as accounts of Albania in WWII and through the Communist era give a great introduction to Albania's rich history.
Halfway through the day, the tour will leave Tirana for the ancient city of Berat. Enjoy the old architecture of the town, as well as the striking Citadel overlooking the river, and wander over to the old Christian quarter across the river for a visit. Visit Berat's numerous ruined mosques and medieval Orthodox churches or stop in at the Onufri National Museum, located in the inner part of “Saint Mary Church” in Castle of Berat.
Once the old city of Berat has been fully explored, the tour heads back to Tirana for the end of the trip.
