What People Are Saying About Times Square
The walking tour was interesting and informative. Jason had some fun stories and was very open to questions of all sorts. What set this tour apart was the back stage portion. It was so incredible to be up on the stage and see how all of the sets and props are organized and hear about all of the trap doors and elevators.
The guide was friendly but lack any in-depth knowledge of Broadway & NYC in general, especially when asked specific questions. Also showed photos on a small phone instead of an iPad (& not everyone in the small group had an opportunity to see all the pics), and lacked the headsets to hear him easily. The tour is advertised as the guide having "first hand theatre experience" on Broadway so I expected him to share a few anecdotes of his time, but he could only say his experience was as an Asst. House Mgr to 1 show a few years ago. We ended up at the Theatre 25 minutes early, and instead of filling the time with stories or info, after 5 minutes the guide just let us be so we all stood around and took some pictures of the lobby & waited for the in-house historian. The historian, Eric, was wonderful and patient; he and his teammate were fantastic in explaining all the props and encouraging us to respectfully try them on. This part was an amazing experience & made the tour all worthwhile.
