Mount Athos is a mountain and peninsula in Northern Greece. A World Heritage Site and autonomous polity within the Hellenic Republic under the official name Autonomous Monastic State of the Holy.
What to Expect
After being driven from your hotel in Thessaloniki you will depart on your cruise from Ormos Panagias on Mount Athos. Sailing up the Skete of St. Anna, you will travel towards the southern tip of Mount Athos. From here the ship changes course and sails north, along the western coast of the peninsula, while an informative tour is conducted in both Greek, German and English by the experienced guide.
From a distance of approximately 500 meters you will overlook all the monasteries from the boat. The luxury cruise ship offers a large living room (sufficient space for up to 100 people), a panoramic lounge (150 people) and a sun deck with chairs and tables and a capacity of 100 people. In the cruise ship you may enjoy the beautiful decor which transports you to other centuries. Feel free to enjoy coffee or a refreshment in one of the ship's fully equipped bars.
Visitors have the opportunity to be fully informed about the history of each monastery of Mount Athos by an experienced and informative tour guide.
From the cruise ship you can see monasteries of the Docheiariou, Xenophontos, Dionisiou, Simonos Petra, Panteleimon or Russian, Grigoriou and Pavlou New Hermitage, Hermitage of Agia Anna.
At the end of the cruise you will return back to Ouranoupolis, where you may relax for approximately two hours before being returned to your hotel.
