What to Expect
Santorini is a jewel of an island, boasting pretty houses and sweeping ocean views along with a host of world-class museums. Today, you can take a private guided tour of several of these great museums on your shore excursion!

Beginning with a private tour of the Akrotiri site, you will quickly learn the history and legend of Santorini 3,500 years ago, a fire breathed its venom onto this peaceful fishing village, burning the town completely. Archaeologists have uncovered this ancient capital, and your guide will point out the remarkable and rare Hellenistic and Roman pieces that still exist from the 5th century BCE.

Next up, your guide/driver will take you for a visit to the Museum of Prehistoric Thira, which houses famous wall frescoes and many archeological discoveries from this land. The city of Akrotiri is a treasure-trove of archaeological discoveries. Similar to Pompeii in its magnitude, you will be treated to incredible discoveries in the thousands of storerooms that make up this onsite archaeological excavation site/museum.

No visit to Santorini is complete without a taste of the award winning refreshing local wine, so you will stop by the Koutsougianopoulo Wine Museum for a look at the unique process of winemaking here on the island. Walk around lifesize puppets, venture underground in a cave tunnel, and then enjoy a free tasting of 4 wines. Some of these vines date back to the time of the Volcano, nearly 3,500 years ago!

Lunch is served overlooking the famous caldera, where you'll sample some of the finest Greek food. After filling up, head out to the islands' most photographed village, Oia.
