What to Expect
Day 1: Delhi to Agra and Agra to Jaipur by Train (B,L)

5:15am - Pick up from hotel in Delhi and transfer to New Delhi Railway Station where you board your deluxe train to City of Taj, Agra.

Train departs at 6am – Your deluxe train Shatabdi Exp (Train No. 12002) departs from New Delhi Railway Station. (Breakfast will be served on board).

Arrival at Agra Cantt Railway Station at 8am - You will be met by your driver at the main exit gate. He will be holding a sign with your name. After arrival board your private Toyota car and leave for refreshments at a 4 or 5 star Hotel. Afterwards, you will meet your tour guide in the hotel lobby and you will start your day visit.

You will leave to explore the monumental heritage of the Great Mughals, including the magnificent Taj Mahal (closed on Fridays), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and surely the most extravagant expression of love ever created. 20,000 men laboured for over 17 years to build this memorial to Shah Jahan's beloved wife. It's a wealth of white marble and semi-precious stone – undoubtedly the highlight of the tour.

You will also visit the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This powerful fortress of red sandstone encompasses, within its 2.5-km-long enclosed walls, the imperial city of the Mughal rulers. It comprises many fairy-tale palaces, such as the Jahangir Palace and the Khas Mahal, built by Shah Jahan; audience halls, such as the Diwan-i-Khas; and two very beautiful mosques.

Shopping – Shopping in Agra is known for its fabulous handicrafts made of marble and softstone inlay work. The Mughals were great patrons of arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan took personal interest and was an accomplished artist herself in zari embroidery work. Agra's major handicraft products besides inlay work are: leatherware, brassware, carpets, jewellery and embroidery work.

Departure from Agra – Transfer to the railway station and train to Jaipur. (Train departs at 5:40pm; dinner will be served on board)

Arrival in Jaipur – Train arrival in Jaipur Railway Station, where you will be met by your driver and drive to your hotel

Overnight: Ramada or similar.

Day 2: Jaipur Sightseeing and Train to Delhi (B,L,D)

You will have breakfast followed by a sight-seeing tour of the city, visiting the dramatic hilltop fortress, the Amber Fort. Ascend the imposing fort on a decorated painted elephant. You will wander among glittering inlays and the Hall of Mirrors. On the way back you will stop to view the elegant Hawa Mahal or the Palace of the Winds. This elaborate building, now little more than a façade, is encrusted with delicate screens and carved balconies from which the royal ladies, confined to their quarters, could sneak views of the outside world.

After lunch you will tour the Maharajah’s City Palace, now partly a museum displaying a unique fusion of Mughal and Hindu architecture and housing a rare collection of paintings, Rajput armor and costumes. The Albert Hall was designed by Sir Swinton Jacob, a British architect who designed many palaces in Rajasthan. Combining elements of English and north Indian architecture, the hall opened in 1887. It is a very well-maintained and impressive building displaying a rich collection of art, including paintings, carpet, ivory, stone and metal sculptures and colorful crystal works. Later you will explore the city on your own and indulge in shopping for gemstones, silver jewelry, paintings, blue pottery and the hand printed textiles that Jaipur is renowned for.

After a memorable day, transfer to the Railway Station in Jaipur. (Train departs at 5:50pm. Dinner will be served on board).

Train arrives 10:40pm at New Delhi Railway Station and you will be dropped at your hotel.
