Very well organised outing. The boat was not overcrowded (a concern of mine as I was bringing a toddler), the outing was calm, but exciting when the whales turned up - they really do come very close to the boat when not pressured into doing so, even with their calves (another concern was whether my 19-month daughter would be able to see anything she could identify as a whale or a life form at all, and she absolutely could). Knowledgeable and conscientious crew, great views of the island from the coast, and the boat itself was very comfortable (if occasionally a little diesel-y), with a variety of seating and vantage positions (aft, stern, top deck, cabin). Stable boat-as much as possible with big swell. Being in the cabin was great to shelter from the sun, the general hubbub, as well as having access to both sides of the boat without having to circumnavigate the whole thing. I can absolutely recommend this activity for anyone who loves our marine mammal cousins and being on the water.
Was looking for an animal friendly, sustainable (as much as possible) cruise and was very happy to have found this - they didn't chase the animals at all instead turned the engines off and quietened the mic when spotted pilot whale pods nearby and they actually swam to us 💙 they also donate to animal conservation organisations from all tickets. The first time I booked we had to turn back 20mins in due to too choppy waves and they offered refund/new date - really appreciated how responsible and honest they were (rather than carrying on like some other boats did and people having a bad/scary experience). I rebooked a few days later and weather was perfect, we saw a lot of pilot whales (families with babies) as well as a pod of dolphins from further away 🐬. Crew was great, guide spoke 3-4 languages. I also had a discount off season so fantastic value for the experience. Would definitely recommend.
