What to Expect
The dusty air fills your lungs as you take refuge in the holiest of holy cities – Jerusalem. On this 2 day sightseeing tour, you will walk in the footsteps of history, visit the most holy of all sites across three religions, climb to the peak of Mt. Zion, visit the Hall of the Last Supper, and enjoy spectacular views of the Holy Land. Your expert guide leads you through this adventure, leaving you with a deep understanding of the land, the legends, and the intimate relation of everyone who lives here in Israel.
Beginning around the Old Town of Jerusalem, you will gain a comprehensive overview of the city, walking around the main attractions – the Wailing Wall, Temple Mount, and the Dome of the Rock. After visiting these three sites, you will have a chance to walk through the recently restored Roman road of the Cardo, which cuts through the Jewish and Armenian Quarters. Visit the bazaar afterwards for a chance to shop for a few souvenirs to bring back home.
After some shopping, you will have a chance to visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, also known as the Church of the Resurrection, which is said to be the place that Jesus is buried and resurrected. Then it's time to ascend to the tip of Mt. Zion, or on Saturdays visit the Hall of the Last Supper and David's Tomb. Finally, you will head to the Holocaust Museum, for a look at Jewish life in the 20th century.
On your second day out, you'll head to the Judean desert – the lowest place on earth! Then it's time to ascend Masada by cable car and visit the fortress of King Herod, built in 37 BCE. Make sure to enjoy the stunningly preserved mosaic floors, Roman baths, and other unique treasures. Finally, head to the Dead Sea for a dip in its salty waters. Finally, you will return to your hotel, but not before stopping on the way at the Qumeran Caves, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.
In total, it's a action-packed 2-day adventure into the heart of the Holy Land that will leave you rejuvenated and filled with awe and inspiration for the complexity of this rich region.
