Enjoy a pleasant walk through the Mt. Field National Park to see Russell Falls and the giant hardwood pines, and then sit down to a light lunch of local produce at the Possum Shed Café before you continue on a tour of the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.
What to Expect
Begin your beautiful walking tour with a short drive through historic New Norfolk, passing through fragrant hop fields, apple orchards and berry farms on your way to Mt. Field National Park.
Once you arrive at the Park, there are a variety options depending on the length of walk you wish to go on. Wander through the stunning park to Russell Falls (20m walk) or opt for something a bit longer with a stroll to the giant Hardwood pines and Blackwood trees in the vicinity (30-45 minute walk).
After your nature stroll, return to Westerway and The Possum Shed Cafe for a light lunch before making your way to join the tour at the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Stroll through this magnificent place and hand-feed kangaroos. Get your photo taken with a koala and learn all about the Tasmanian Devil.
The return to your accommodation will take you through a quaint Georgian Village boasting the oldest convict-built bridge in Australia, and you can opt to stop at Wicked Cheese for some delicious cheese tasting on your way back to Hobart.
