What to Expect
Enter the beautiful Tarragona Cathedral and discover one of the oldest cathedrals in Spain. Marvel at works of ecclesiastical beauty in the cloisters and museum.
Built in the 12th and 13th centuries over the site of an old Roman temple, the church will take you through more than 2,000 years of art. The unfinished main façade is both Gothic and Romanesque in design, and once inside there are dozens of chapels of sacred art. See beautiful works by Pere Johan, Pere Blai, Lluís Borrassà, and many others. Learn the history of the cathedral and its chapels via the complimentary audio guide and headphones.
Then, go to the cloisters to see columns decorated with biblical, legendary, hagiographic and moral themes. The Diocesan Museum was founded in 1914 and has around 6,000 pieces of which 350 are on display at any one time. Journey through a highly diverse chronological, stylistic, and artistic discourse on local art.
