Loksha Tours offers this informative day trip to the stunning capital of Australia for all those in need of a cultural break. With many attractions of importance and nationally significant sites, visiting Canberra is a must when you come to Sydney.
What to Expect
Our first stop is Berrima, a small, historical township where you can get a morning snack. Berrima is particularly interesting because it is a well preserved example of a Georgian village of the early nineteenth century on the Australian mainland. Berrima charms its visitors, and will allow you to step back in time as you explore the quaint village.
As we continue on, enjoy the scenic drive through Southern Highlands and Southern Tablelands on our way to the city of Canberra. In Canberra, you will visit the award winning New Parliament House opened in 1988 after its construction began in 1981. There was much debate over the eventual location of Australia’s Capital City between Melbourne and Sydney.
Following an informative visit to the New Parliament house, enjoy a drive through Commonwealth Park, various Foreign Embassies, The Prime Minister's Lodge and other buildings of National importance that abound in Canberra. In addition to this, take a trip to the Lake Burley Griffin and Captain Cooks Memorial Jet which commemorates the bicentenary of Capitan Cook’s discovery of the East Coast of Australia.
Learn about Australia’s history when you visit the Australian National Museum and Australian War Memorial, both fascinating points of interest for any visitor to Australia. On our return to Sydney we will stop at a suitable place for a well-deserved dinner and for your convenience you be dropped off at the same point which you were picked up from.
