This amazing cycle starts at Barrydale, cycling along quiet country roads and heading towards quaint villages and not being too far from the sea. Cycling all around the very majestic Langerberg Mountain Range areas and ending back at Barrydale.
What to Expect
Day 1 - 60km to Riversdale
The ride starts in Barrydale. Most of the ride is on quiet country roads. Transport and back-up vehicles to be on hand throughout the trip. A picnic lunch is provided each day at the halfway mark, on this day on top of Langeberg mountain range. The afternoon ride is on the southern side of the Langeberg along the original oxwagon trail going towards Riversdale to your overnight stop which looks towards the berg. Accomodation at a guest house. Dinner bed and breakfast provided.
Day 2 - 60km to Vermaaklikheid
The ride takes you down to Riversdale for breakfast. You then travel towards a quaint village of Vermaaklikheid a short distance from the sea. You shall be staying in chalets near a tidal river. Dinner is at the delightful local restaurant. If the tide and weather is favorable you will travel to the coast by boat for a beach walk or swim.
Day 3 - 70km to Heidelberg
The ride takes you towards Malgas to the only remaining hand drawn pontoon in South Africa. After crossing the Breede River you will have lunch on river bank. Then to Heidelberg and your overnight stop at a ostrich and guest farm. Experience feeding the ostrich. Here you will have your final dinner together which will be of note - ostrich and karoo cuisine.
Day 4 - 35km to Barrydale
You will travel along the Duivenhoks river climbing towards the Grootvaders bosch nature reserve to a final lunch stop at Honeywood farm. This marks the end of the ride. You then drive back to Barrydale.
