Upon your arrival at Cemoro Lawang - the meeting point for the sunrise attraction - climb aboard a 4WD vehicle to start the adventure. Drive along a bumpy road to the sunrise viewpoint called Penanjakan. Walk for about 10 minutes from the parking area to the sunrise viewpoint and witness the magical Bromo sunrise view. This is a highly professionally organised guided tour from Surabaya to see the sunrise at Bromo Volcano. There is a tight schedule, which was met on time and highly organised. From getting picked-up at the lobby of our hotel at 11.30 pm sharp to changing the transportation vehicle to a Toyota 4WD at Cemoro Lawang at 3.30 am to getting to the peak point on top of the Bromo Volcano at 4.00 am to see the sunrise at 5.30 am, to taking us to the Sea of Sands at 6.00 am and back to Cemoro Lawang to have breakfast at 8.00 am and return then to Surabaya well ahead of time. Our guide, named Tono, was highly knowledgable about the entire area, and also gave us some background info on Surabaya itself on the return in bright daylight, where we were shown some of the local attractions, e.g. the Monument of the Battle between Sura the shark and Baya the crocodile. This was a TOP experience, which was well organised and absolutely safe. Many thanks to Tono, Heru and the Team!

The tour was great. Asep ist a great guide. Of course starting the tours ad 3am for Bromo and Midnight for Ijen is quite exhausting, but it's worth it. There was almost no blue fire in Ijen, because auf the rain season. It seems the ground was to wet. It is supposed to burn brighter in the time of June to August. But then there are way more tourists. Anyhow at Bromo and Ijen there where many people, but Asep makes sure you got to nice viewpoints, which are not too crowded. Nevertheless the Ijen crater is a fantastic attraction. Especially the view of the blue acid lake at sunrise is amazing. I recommend the tour and theses guys!

Great trip, the various drivers and guides that I could have been super friendly, we laughed a lot. The scenery and the view are just magnificent, it's something to do once in your life.

the optional excursion to the madakaripura waterfall is highly recommended. Warning you wade through a brook. You can buy flip-flops and ponchos on site. Asep was an excellent guide :-)
