Enjoy an unforgettable ecotour in Bulgaria including a visit to a beekeeping farm, botanical garden, a Bulgarian farm and tasting pure and ecological Bulgarian yoghurt and Strandzha honeydew.
What to Expect
8:00am: Depart from Sunny Beach.
9:30am: Visit the Seraphim Family Botanical Garden in the village of Velika. Some 2200 plant species from subtropical and temperate latitudes are grown here.
The botanical appearance of this garden, called "Eden" by its guests, can be perceived as such even only by the fact that more than 1600 species of cacti are grown here - 23 types and varieties along with 9 varieties of paradise apple, pomegranate, feyhoa, sacred myrtle, coffee, banana, jujube, 6 varieties of figs and Russian favorites - viburnum and honeysuckle, Phillyrea, the fantastic ginkgo biloba/ a radiation and heat resisting plant more than 220 million years-old which has survived the Hiroshima atomic bomb and a lot of varieties of apples, pears, quince, dogwood, chokeberry and much more. A limited number of famous species and variety seedlings are produced and can be purchased by botanical enthusiasts on the spot.
The family members, who take care of the garden, will in short or in detail introduce you to the plants. This normally takes about 45-60 minutes, though quite often the briefing turns into a long one - in line with visitor's interests.
10:40am: Visit a beekeeping farm and taste pure and ecological Strandzha honeydew.
Strandzha honeydew is one of the finest honeys in the world. It is produced from the deciduous oak forests growing in Strandzha Mountains. It comes in a dark and black color, and has a specific flavor. Extremely rich in minerals and vitamins, the honeydew contains a huge amount of antioxidants with anti-tumor effects. Its microelements are almost in the same proportion as in human blood.
In the beekeeping farm, visitors will get acquainted with the basic processes and special features of Strandzha honeydew manufacturing which predefine its unique qualities. When tasting the honeydew, everyone gets the opportunity to experience and enjoy the unique taste, combined with a freshly baked loaf of bread. Special protective suits ensure visitor safety.
11:45am: Visit to a Bulgarian farm and tasting of pure ecological Bulgarian yoghurt and banitza.
Visit a small family farm of mainly cows and horses (horseback riding can be arranged for a fee) and experience the hospitality of a Bulgarian farmer, learn about his life and enjoy rural tranquility. The youngest guests will certainly fall in love with the fondling calves, cats and goats. Everyone who has tasted the ecologically pure Bulgarian yoghurt and banitza will find out why it is called unique.
