What to Expect
Explore Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s Old Town, on a 3-hour guided tour. Walk the narrow streets of the neighborhood where the city’s history began, and soak up the atmosphere of Riddarholmen Island. Make the tour complete with visits to the Royal Palace and Stockholm Cathedral.
Stockholm’s history began in Gamla Stan in 1252. Walking along the cobbled streets, you’ll see the main attractions, including Market Square with its colorful houses, the rune stone, the German Church, the narrowest alley, and Järnpojke, Stockholm’s smallest statue. History will come alive as you stroll through the Old Town and the island of Riddarholmen.
For centuries, the history of Sweden has been closely linked to its royalty. During your guided visit to the Royal Palace, you’ll have a chance to visit the elegant rooms and halls and listen to stories of the kings and queens who have lived there.
Storkyrka, Stockholm’s Cathedral, has been the venue for coronations and royal weddings for hundreds of years. The most recent event was the wedding of Crown Princess Viktoria in 2010.
The cathedral’s impressive interior is well worth well a visit. Admire its art treasures, such as the 15th-century sculpture of St. George and the Dragon, and the oldest painting of Stockholm.
