  • Athens: 2-Hour Highlights Tour by E-Bike After Sunset

    1. Athens: 2-Hour Highlights Tour by E-Bike After Sunset

Experience Athens after dark on an e-bike ride through the city center. Listen to street musicians and enjoy the cooler air of the evening as you admire the historic monuments illuminated for the night. Climb the Hill of Nymphs for views of the Acropolis and Mount Lycabettus. Stop at Hadrian's Arch, the Temple of Zeus and the Greek Parliament building to admire the traditional tunics of the Evzones guards. Discover the site of the first modern Olympic Games at the Panathenaic Stadium. Cycle the picturesque streets of Plaka, lined with cafés and restaurants, and see the Ancient Agora, Temple of Hephaestus and porticoes of the Stoa of Attalos.

This tour was so much fun! We loved seeing Athens at night. Scooting around the city on ebikes was exhilarating. Very safe but definitely on the more adventurous side. Our guide, Youssef, was fantastic. He provided us with plenty of facts about the city and the sights while also keeping it light and fun. I highly recommend this tour.

  • Athens: Guided Tour of Ancient Agora and Agora Museum

    2. Athens: Guided Tour of Ancient Agora and Agora Museum

Visit the cradle of democracy and explore one of the most important sites of the antiquity, the birthplace of philosophy. The ancient agora was the commercial, political and financial heart of ancient Athens and is the place where Socrates, Plato and many world-known philosophers walked and taught their thinking.  You will visit the Hephaestus Temple, the best preserved Greek Temple from the 5th century BC and you will see the wonderful church of the 12 Apostles, the Temple of Apollo Patroos, the Stoa of Zeus, the Altar of Zeus. With the input of your knowledgeable guide, the ancient stones will come alive.  Then your licensed guide will take you to the Attalos Museum, which is worthwhile visiting as it houses artifacts of great historical value.

We took this 90 min tour on our last day in Athens to basically fill in time. Am so glad we did as we would never have visited the Ancient Agora or area if we hadn’t. Dorina was a fabulous guide explaining the history of the area and the ruins. After walking up to Hephaestus Temple we went to the Attalos museum where relics of the area are on display. After the tour was finished you could stay and continue to look around on your own. Highly recommend. (Tip: make sure you go to the Ancient Agora to meet and not the Roman Agora.

Michael was an excellent guide. His English was really proficient making for an informative exchange in such an historically-rich city. The acropolis, which we were visiiting for the first time since 1968, was exhilirating, even with the huge crowds present. Michael knowledge of the area steered us through the crowds and gained us the best viewing angles for photos. In 1968 we walked freely through the Parthenon, not so now. Michael, with Manos the driver, took us to far more places and sights than we had previously seen and we are most grateful.

Another way to discover a city is to take a bike tour. The fact that it is at sunset offers beautiful lights and further sublimates the monuments of Athens. I recommend the activity, the electric bikes are great!
