- Visit Catherine Palace and admire the impressive architecture and gardens
- Discover the world-famous Amber Room in Catherine Palace
- Explore Pavlovsk Palace, home of Paul I
The 900-square-meter Great Hall glitters gold, with huge windows and mirrors fitted along each side. The main decoration of the palace however is the Amber Room, given to Peter the Great by the Prussian King Wilhelm I. The original Amber Room was considered lost after World War II; however, the world-famous room has since been reconstructed in its original style.
After the visit, travel 4 kilometers from Pushkin toward Pavlovsk. In contrast to Catherine Palace, the palace here has a Classicist style, designed by the Scottish architect Charles Cameron. Pavlovsk Park, the 600-quatratmeter landscaped garden was created by Italian landscape architect and painter Pietro Gonzaga. The castle was largely destroyed during World War II, but was fully restored in the 1950s.
