The secret lagoon was an hour or so coach ride from Reykjavík, unfortunately for us the weather was very snowy so we couldn’t enjoy the views. The coach was very comfortable and the driver very cheerful and helpful. When we got to the lagoon we were given instructions by the helpful staff, and although it was very cold outside, the changing rooms were warm and clean, you are told to shower naked but it seemed to me that only the locals did that! The walk from the changing room is short but cold but the lagoon is great, warm and lovely, everyone was having fun. Afterwards there is a nice reasonably priced tea room, for a coffee or a beer. Also you can walk around the lagoon to see the water bubbling away from the natural geysers, very interesting.
An amazing place, to experience the secret lagoon was fantastic, my only criticism would be that we were supposed to have at least 2 hours at the lagoon when in reality we got about one and half which was not long enough, the drive there in the mini bus was fantastic to see the scenery but our driver did not converse with us so no landmarks etc were pointed out which was a shame and the mini bus certainly lacked the comfort of a proper coach. We boarded a coach back and the guide was great. Very informative and helpful.
Picked up on time and taken to lagoon. Approx 1.5 hrs transfer time. Arrived at lagoon and given instructions to remove shoes, shower and enjoy! The lagoon was'nt too busy, plenty of room to move about, people coming and going all the time. Non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks available aswell as snacks. You can take drinks into the lagoon. Lovely and warm in the water, beware of the hotspots! They are hot hot! Really enjoyed the time there.
Could have allowed more time. As a disabled person it takes longer to get changed for getting in and out of lagoon. Therefore I didn’t have time to get anything to eat in the cafe. It would have been helpful if disabled people are advised bring a packed lunch due to this and also an exceptionally long queue in the cafe. Apart from being hungry on the way back, I enjoy my experience.
The lagoon itself is amazing. Very relaxing and well worth the drive out there. It would have been a 5 star experience had our driver actually engaged with us...I couldn't even tell you his name! We would have liked to know a bit about the places we were driving through. Overall though, we had a lovely time.
