Overview
Learn to cook popular Jamaican dishes at a plantation home on the south coast of the island and get a 3-hour interactive lesson from a Jamaican chef. Stroll in the gardens among fragrant herbs, and see sugarcane, banana, casava and other crops.
What to Expect
Head to the Great House plantation home on the south coast of Jamaica for a 3-hour interactive cooking course on Jamaican food.

Built in the early 18th century, with loopholes to guard against pirates and buccaneers, it’s an authentic Caribbean location. You will take a tour of the gardens before meeting chef Irie, who will teach you to become a “true” Jamaican chef and help you prepare fine Jamaican delicacies.

A warm welcome awaits from your hostess, who will greet you under a great mahogany tree planted by Sir Winston Churchill. After your scenic walk through an ornamental garden, where you can pick a herb or two, it's off to the verandah of the Great House, where your senses will be tantalized by the different herbs and spices for the cooking exercises.

Each person will get their own work station, with a clear view of chef Irie as he instructs you in the preparation of the Dolphin Cove special blend jerk sauce, and coconut with shrimp. Knead your own dough, make ripe banana fritters, and prepare callaloo for steaming.

Taste buds tantalized, enjoy the flavors of the dishes you helped create. Then, sample some famous Blue Mountain coffee, and learn about the many uses of coconut and banana, the essential ingredients of every Jamaican home.
