Discover Rome and Vatican City on a full-day excursion from Sorrento. Take a short guided coach tour of Rome, and then head off to visit St. Peter’s Square, the Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, and other sites. Enjoy dinner at the end of your visit.
What to Expect
After a guided coach tour in Rome you’ll have 3 hours to explore Vatican City, with many options open to you. You may wish to visit the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter’s Basilica during this full-day excursion.
Your coach will drop you off in Vatican City, and your guide will then escort you on foot to St. Peter's Square. From here you might like to take the lift and stairs to the top of the Basilica's dome for spectacular views over the Vatican City and Rome.
If you decide to visit the Cupola of St. Peter’s Basilica, the area at the very top of the Basilica's dome, you’ll ride up a lift and then climb up 320 rather claustrophobic steps!
Additional choices open to you during the 3 hours you have in Vatican City are to visit the tombs under the Basilica where past popes have been laid to rest, or to spend time browsing around the shops and book stalls.
You’ll have a packed lunch to eat during your 3 hours of free time in Vatican City. You’ll then meet up with guide again, and travel by coach across the city to the Colosseum. You’ll have 1 hour of free time here.
You’ll certainly have worked up an appetite with all this sightseeing. You’ll enjoy dinner at the end of a busy day. The meal is included in the price of the tour.

• Buffet with mixed salad/bruschetta/cold meats/cheese
