Full description

Depart Sorrento and journey by air-conditioned bus to the legendary archaeological site of Pompeii. Follow your guide along paths once walked by everyday citizens of the Roman Empire and encounter the remains of villas, temples, the amphitheater and more. Learn about the former flourishing commercial town of the Roman Republic, and how it was reduced to rubble by a volcanic eruption in 79 AD. Get a unique look at life in the town over 2,000 years ago. Then, go by bus to Mount Vesuvius to explore the volcano where it all started. Hike up the mountain from an altitude of 1,000 meters above sea level to the edge of the crater high above the Bay of Naples.

A very interesting day at Pompei and Vesuvius. The guide was great (Tony?) and timed things and communicated well. Nice lunch. Very hot climbing up Vesuvius but worth it! Thank you and sorry I had no cash for a tip!

Amazing day, the tour guide was passionate about his work and so kind and informative. The tour was beautiful, and the lunch was incredible. I felt there was plenty of time at both locations, allowing me to walk all the way around the crater and enjoy a drink before boarding, while also exploring Pompeii with Tony’s guided tour was fun and informative. I would love more time at Pompeii but that’s just the nature of the place. You could spend a whole day there. Bus driver was so skilled and I felt safe the whole day. 10/10 would recommend this tour to anyone.
