Palma: Tramuntana Full-Day Tour with Sóller Train and Lunch
Join a tour of the historic railway known as the "Red Lightning" from Palma to Sóller. Travel through picturesque landscapes and past orange groves and almond fields through the idyllic town of Bunyola. Once in Sóller, continue on your way to incredible Modernist houses. You can choose to take the historic tram from Sóller to Port de Sóller, payable on the day. After an approximately 25-minute ride along the beautiful beach promenade, the train ends in the center of the little city. Walk through this idyllic port town, stop in a cozy restaurant, and enjoy a delicious tapas meal. Then, take a comfortable minibus through the breathtaking panoramic stretch of the Tramuntana Mountains to the artists' colony of Deía. Climb to the town's highest point for a sensational view over the heights of the Tramuntana Mountains, to the picturesque valleys, past the coast, and over the sea. Continue to Valdemossa past a mighty forest of holm oaks and wander the idyllic little town. Visit the excellent museum of the painter Josep Coll Bardolet and see the famous Carthusian cloister where Chopin lived and worked. Enjoy free time to explore on your own amidst the beautiful homes surrounded by Mediterranean gardens full of orange and lemon trees. This tour includes a large proportion of journeys through the beautiful landscapes of Mallorca. You will be travelling on the historic railway for about an hour and 15 minutes through the plain before the mountains. Here you will see fields of almond and fig trees, grazing sheep in extensive meadows and clay-coloured fields. After passing through many short tunnels and one long tunnel, the railway winds its way down picturesque hairpin bends to the town of Soller. The journey on the historic tram from Soller to Port de Soller takes 25 minutes and takes you past olive and lemon groves and along the harbour promenade, which is closed to cars. The long sandy beach and the marina can be seen from the railway. From Port de Soller, the route then takes the minibus (max. 8 passengers) up the hairpin bends to the Son Bleda pass, behind which the panoramic road awaits, leading directly above the sea along beautiful bays and impressive mountain scenery. The village of Deia is reached after approx. 35 minutes. Explore this atmospheric little place at your own pace. Let yourself be captivated by the silence and spirituality of the cemetery and the church at the top of the hill. Driving time from Deia to Valldemossa will be 20 minutes and from Valldemossa to Palma 40 minutes. The time in the historic railway and the historic tramway adds up to approx. 1.45 hours, the journey through the impressive and touching landscapes of the Mediterranean in the comfortable and air-conditioned minibus also adds up to approx. 1.35 hours.
