Included in your package are visits to the National Archaeological Museum and National Art Gallery, where you will see the many collected treasures that tell a complex and fascinating story about the Bulgarian people. For fans of the fine arts, opera in particular, you will have the option to purchase tickets to performances that align with your visit.
Upon arrival at Sofia Airport, transfer to your hotel. Spend free time becoming familiar with your surroundings.
Day 2 (Meals: B)
In the morning, embark on a walking tour of Sofia, visiting St. Nedelya Cathedral, St. George Rotunda, Banya Bashi Mosque, and Sofia Synagogue; the largest synagogue on the Balkan Peninsula. You will also see the Presidency, the Ivan Vazov National Theater, the former Royal Palace, the Russian Church of St. Nicolas, St. Sophia Church, St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and the National Assembly Square with the monument of the Russian Tsar Alexander II. Finally, pass by Sofia University and the National Library, before enjoying leisure time for the remainder of the day.
Day 3 (Meals: B)
In the morning, make your way to the National Archaeological Museum, the oldest museum in Bulgaria, founded in 1892. The exhibition contains more than 55,000 artifacts representing the history of the Bulgarian lands, including the Thracian gold treasure from Valchitran. Continue on to the National Gallery, a museum of art and sculpture, which holds pieces of Bulgaria’s most famous artists from the 19th and 20th centuries. Some of the artists whose work is featured here include: Yaroslav Veshin, Vladimir Dimitrov-the Master, Zlatio Boyadzhiev, Dechko Uzunov, Nenko Balkanski, Vera Nedkova, Ivan Nenov, Bencho Obreshkov, Vasil Zahariev, George Papazov, and Svetlin Rusev.
Day 4 (Meals: B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your outgoing flight.
