Beginning and ending in Sofia, this tour takes you to medieval villages, secluded monasteries, fascinating museums, and unique locations such as Veliko Tarnova and the Thracian tomb in Kazanlak.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Sofia
Arrive at Sofia airport, meet your guide, and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Sofia – Veliko Tarnovo (Meals: B)
Transfer to Veliko Tarnovo, the capital of the Second Bulgarian Empire. En route, visit 17th century Troyan Monastery.

Day 3: Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanasi (Meals: B)
Sightseeing tour of Veliko Tarnovo, then visit the historic village of Arbanasi. See Konstantsaliev’s House (one of the largest and most lavishly decorated houses of the Bulgarian National Revival), and visit the Church of the Nativity of Christ with its unique frescoes.

Day 4: Veliko Tarnovo – Kazanlak (Meals: B)
Depart for Kazanlak. En route, visit 13th-century Dryanovo Monastery, situated in the picturesque gorge of the Dryanovo River. Then stop in the village of Bozhentsi, where there are a number of preserved houses from the Bulgarian National Revival. This will be followed by a visit to the Etar Architectural-Ethnographic Complex, which portrays the way of life, traditions, customs, and economic background of the Bulgarian people during the Revival. Afterward, visit Shipka Peak – where, in August 1877, one of the most crucial battles in the Russo-Turkish war took place. It was part of a series of battles that brought freedom to Bulgarians after five centuries of enslavement.

Day 5: Kazanlak – Koprivshtitsa (Meals: B)
Sightseeing tour of Kazanlak, including: the Rose Museum, which has unique exhibits relevant to the production of rose oil; Iskra Museum of History, where the most recently discovered gold, silver, and bronze findings from the Thracian mounds are on display; and the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak, part of a great Thracian necropolis which dates back to 400 BCE. Transfer to Koprivshtitsa, and enjoy a sightseeing tour of the town.

Day 6: Koprivshtitsa – Sofia (Meals: B)
Transfer to Sofia. Visit the National Art Gallery, then enjoy leisure time to explore the city on your own.

Day 7: Sofia (Meals: B, D)
Sightseeing tour of Sofia, including St. Nedelya Cathedral, St. George Rotunda, Russian Church of St. Nicolas, St. Sofia Church, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and Ivan Vazov National Theater. Visit the National Museum of History and the Boyana Church, with preserved frescoes dating back to 1259. Dinner in a restaurant with a folkloric program.

Day 8: Sofia (Meals: B)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your departure.
